the practice
the poses are just the door.
You may have come to yoga for the physical practice. But yoga has always been about more than the shape of the body.
8 Friday mornings. Each week we take one idea from the yogic tradition and explore it through a strong, breath-led Vinyasa practice. Not as a lecture. As something you feel in your body first and recognise in your week afterwards.
The physical practice is challenging. The exploration is personal.
The intention is simple: to take something from the mat into everyday life.
Brand new to yoga? Book a private session with Agni first, and we'll see you next time!
who's teaching
agni makryonitou
I grew up on Syros and I have three children, so I know what a Friday morning is worth.
I teach Vinyasa, prenatal yoga, and yoga for children including neurodivergent kids. This journey is the deepest thing I teach.

the journey
8 weeks, 8 ideas
Each session builds on the one before it.
That's why it's 8 weeks and not 8 separate classes.
Svadhyaya · know yourself
How do you respond when something gets difficult? Push, avoid, compare, give up? The practice becomes a mirror.
Ahimsa · how we meet ourselves
Strength does not have to mean force. Where is the line between challenging yourself and fighting yourself?
Sthira & Sukha · effort & ease
Can you be strong without becoming rigid? Through challenging movement and conscious breath, we look for the balance between steadiness and softness.
Aparigraha · letting go
What happens when you stop trying to control the outcome? Attachment, expectation, and the need to achieve, on the mat and beyond it.
Tapas · stay with it
Discipline, commitment, and the willingness to remain present when things are uncomfortable.
Pratipaksha Bhavana · choose your response
There is a space between what happens and how we react. Can we widen it, and choose a response instead of repeating an old pattern?
Santosha · enough
What if this moment did not need to be different? Contentment, comparison, and the constant search for the next thing. This one is my favourite.
Ishvara Pranidhana · surrender
We make the effort. Then we let go of needing to control the result. This is our final gathering, my goodbye to you, and your time to say goodbye to the group. After 7 intense sessions, this one is just about letting it all settle.

questions
before you commit
Well, you don't need to be an advanced practitioner, but absolute beginners will feel lost. The practice assumes you're comfortable with Sun Salutations, flowing sequences, and breath work. If you have good control of your body, whether from yoga, Pilates or similar mindful movement, you'll be fine.
If you're just starting out, Agni offers private sessions that are a much better place to begin.
Nothing at all. Each week's idea is introduced through the practice, not as a lecture. What matters most is curiosity, a willingness to look at yoga as something more than exercise.
Only yourself and comfortable clothes. Mats, props, equipment and water are all provided at Play and Grow. There is nothing for you to carry.
Life happens, and one missed Friday won't undo the journey. Agni will send you what the group worked with that week. But each session builds on the one before it, so the fewer you miss, the more the 8 weeks give you back.
Because untangling the self cannot be rushed.
This is not a drop-in class for the aesthetics, or a quick stretch for a temporary glow. This is a deliberate journey from the surface of the physical body down into the quiet architecture of the soul.
It takes time to shed the noise of your daily life. It takes time to build the kind of trust where real, heavy unearthing can happen.
8 weeks gives us the breath and the space to do the actual work, so that by our final goodbye, you haven't just moved your muscles. You have truly met yourself again.
Yes. Come to the first class. If it isn't for you, tell Agni and you're refunded in full, no explanation needed. After that first session, your spot can be transferred to someone else if your plans change. Just let Agni know as early as you can.
Because the practice gets adjusted to the people in the room, and the reflection only works if there's room for everyone to speak. If more than four want in, we'll look at it together, but four is the intention.
